Steve Rizzi

Steve Rizzi brings image science and a global perspective to the art of photography. He has over forty years in the scientific fields of image processing, image analysis, synthetic media, and artificial intelligence - and his art directly benefits from this experience. Over the years, he has traveled around the world including locations across the US (including Alaska and Hawaii), Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific. These locations have provided extensive subjects for his photography. 

Steve’s work concentrates on patterns

Steve’s work concentrates on patterns - patterns of human behavior in his street photography, patterns in flowers and vegetation, patterns in architecture, patterns of light, and patterns in the physical world. Steve makes use of his scientific and engineering knowledge to capture these patterns using varied depth of field, filters, as well as variations in exposure and dynamic range. Post processing of images plays a role in Steve’s final products, however, he is not a believer in heavy use of generative AI in his art.   

Steve prefers to shoot street photography using black and white, since it produces more of a documentary look, while he prefers color images for most landscape and nature photography.
