STEVE RIZZI ANNOUNCES CANDIDACY FOR
HOUSE OF DELEGATES
GAMBRILLS, MD (JUNE 27, 2002) –
Local Annapolis high-tech business leader, Steve Rizzi,
today filed to run for the Maryland House of Delegates in
District 33A.
“Our district deserves someone who is
experienced working with the legislature,” said Mr. Rizzi.
“Since 1998, I have served on a number of task forces and
committees where I have worked with our state’s
legislators, and I believe that I can forge consensus to
help move our state forward.” Mr. Rizzi continued by
saying, “Additionally, my experience building a successful
high-tech business in the county has taught me what is
needed to make tough fiscal choices that lead to growth.
These are lessons that more politicians need to learn.”
Steve Rizzi is a conservative Democrat
who is running for the open House of Delegates seat in
District 33A. Mr. Rizzi strongly believes that education
and economic development will be key issues in the
campaign. He has served in advisory capacities to the
U.S. Department of Education, as well as the Anne Arundel
County Board of Education, and his work in education has
been recognized with a Computerworld Smithsonian
Innovation Award.
Mr. Rizzi’s expertise in making
government more entrepreneurial has been sought by both
the state of Maryland and the U.S. Department of Defense,
and he has been involved in the writing of three bills in
the Maryland legislature which are now law.
Steve Rizzi is a Corporate Vice
President at Science Applications International
Corporation (SAIC). SAIC is the nation’s largest
privately held research and development firm. SAIC had
over $6B in annual revenue last year, with over 40,000

live or work in Maryland. More than 100 employees work
in Anne Arundel County.
